About Me

Since 2016, I have studied yoga and traditional treatments throughout Asia. This experience in the wellness industry led me to a holistic approach to teaching yoga. Beginning with an understanding of my clients’ (both adults and children) needs and learning objectives, I customize classes and individual sessions, often including aspects of holistic treatments.

Why the name “Javanese Yoga”?

The heart of the Indonesian nation, Java is a complex island of great antiquity and, as home to 140 million people, the most populated island on earth. Java is the center of Indonesian culture, which draws upon centuries of Hindu, Buddhist, Confucian, and Muslim influences.

My first teacher was an elderly Javanese lady who shared her knowledge of traditional Indonesian massage (Tukang Urut) and blending traditional herbal medicines (Jamu). Her specialty was pre and post-natal treatments, to speed recovery after birth. The teaching awakened in me an interest in traditional Asian massage techniques, which later expanded to include yoga, sports therapy, aromatherapy, spiritual and sound healing.

The name was chosen in recognition of the teacher that started me on a path to help others understand their bodies and create balance in their lives.

What I Offer

I offer yoga instruction to individuals and small classes that allow for increased focus, precise adjustment, a non-  judgemental/low stress environment for beginners, and a challenge for accomplished yoga practitioners.

My Signature Offering is Yoga of Recovery, a transformative experience where I draw from my training to tailor an individualized program for those recovering from illness, injury, anxiety, addiction, trauma. The program is the application of my experience in “wellness” to customize a yoga therapy experience for the client.
